At this point, personal opinion will come to the fore – do you like the idea of a book being ruined? International products have separate terms, are sold from abroad and may differ from local products, including fit, age ratings, and language of product, labeling or instructions. Year 6 were introduced to the text 'Battle Bunny' to enhance our focus on editing and improving writing. The first time I read this book, I fell in love with it and its clever, subversive changing of a benign and rather trite birthday book into a story of an evil rabbit and his plan to destroy the forest. First read the original version, Birthday Bunny, if you can read under the handwritten text, then the edited version (handwritten text), Battle Bunny.

Yes you're going to have loads of them, but it's nice to have subtle differences between each squad. Laurie, I was thinking of giving this to Iris for her birthday but since I decided on something else in the end, now you guys should get it from the library if you haven't already. The concept is so very brilliant, but the strain of reading the book doesn't yield a big pay-off for me. Just tap the cute pet Bunny to deploy on the battlefield and fight with strong animal troop enemies. I so want to get this for my little great-nephew, but am unsure when it would be age-appropriate for him, as it clearly requires a kid old enough to get the joke.

Bought for my Grandson, did find it disjointed because of the way it was written, he enjoyed it ,definitely not a favourite at present.

For example, don't miss the title page where you read the sweet sentiment from Alex's grandmother, obviously a grandmother out of touch with her grandson's preferences, or the first page of the story, seemingly unedited, until you look at the illustration and you notice the picture on the wall of a mother bunny leaning over the bed of two rabbits with the words "Drink your poison" written above. Parents will enjoy the sly, cantankerous humor (was that actually a Waiting for Godot reference I just read?

and Chloe and the Lion (both illustrated by Adam Rex), and the New York Times bestseller Extra Yarn . On a deeper level, I truly appreciate the underlying message that there are too many children's books published that are completely predictable and mindless in their formulaic plots. He illustrated two books, one in the old fashioned “Golden Book” style we all are familiar with and one in the illustrations of a small, defiant, talented book vandal!

A funny, subversive act of vandalism that will instantly appeal to all mischievous imaginations, young and old. at least, that's what the story was about until Alex, the child reading the book, changes it by turning "Birthday Bunny" into "Battle Bunny" and re-writing and re-drawing the story. Some more subversive and funny writing can be found in the Horrible Histories series, including Awful Egyptians (Horrible Histories) by Terry Deary. Also worth noting - I showed the book trailer to my class and they ask me about 15 times a day if I have bought the book yet!Despite the many threats and warnings he receives from characters such as El Tejon (the greatest Badger wrestler ever) and Sergeant Squirrel (of the Robot Police Force, no less), Battle Bunny proves himself to be unstoppable…even when coming face to face with robot killer bees, megatron bombs, and the Kenji Fighting Force (comprised of Shaolin Bear and Ninja Turtle, who have been sent by the President himself to deal with Battle Bunny and are well-versed in 1,103 fighting styles. Alex's "edits," including a complete reworking of the text and plenty of pictorial embellishments, are soaked in testosterone.
