Description

The simple 2D sprites set against a 3D background are pleasant if not amazing, while more elaborate character art features the impressive work of Kinu Nishimura, known for Code of Princess and the Street Fighter series. Inevitably, every single little disagreement or challenge throughout the story will result in a card-based confrontation - even among allies - but the gameplay is interesting enough to warrant the repetition. UPDATE***I firmly believe someone is deliberately trying to tank the score for this game by leaving 1 or 2 point scores with no review. Despite how genuinely helpful this can be, it does rely on the tired cliché of amnesia as an extra crutch.

There is a lot to take in with the plethora of cards available but deck building is exciting and rewarding when I find what I believe is the perfect pairings of cards. Items to help attack and defend - as well as magic spells - are also vital, with powers ranging from something as simple as an extra dice roll, to some game-changing abilities that effect the entire board. Passing through every one of these gates is considered a 'lap' of the board, and grants you a magic bonus for your trouble. Expanding and upgrading your territory adds a steady income of magic, and of course you charge a toll for any player unlucky enough to land on your turf. Three hours later the football game is over and I am still there on the couch, trying my damndest to get past that same board on my fourth attempt. To be able to purchase content for Wii U or Nintendo 3DS family systems, your funds usable through the Nintendo Account must be merged with the funds tied to your Nintendo Network ID. It's kind of a shame that the Switch's recent bucketload of fantastic games has squashed its chances of getting a 'novelty purchase' for anyone not a committed Culdcept or card game fan. Allen is a Cepter himself, and gradually gains power as he fights against enemy Cepters hired by the Count.

There's some English voice acting mixed in alongside a forgettable soundtrack, announcing card names and offering encouragement during games, but we ended up turning the sound down and sticking on a podcast when settling into longer play sessions. The AI opponents can put up a stiff challenge, but as is the downfall with many board games luck plays just as much of a part in victory or defeat as raw skill does.If I land on an opponent’s spot, I either have to pay the toll or fight their creature with one of my own.

Although there are incentives for logging into the online, it was difficult to get an online match in against random players on launch day. There are ways to manipulate the dice roll, and to negate certain traps, but sometimes you'll just suffer a run of misfortune and fall victim to one bout of bad luck too many. After your payment has been processed, the content will be downloaded to the applicable system linked to the respective Nintendo Account, or respective Nintendo Network ID in the case of Wii U and Nintendo 3DS family systems. If I claim a space next to that of an opponent, I can use my creature to attack theirs and take it as my own. Don't let these part-timers fool you, Culdcept Revolt should be purchased immediately by anyone with a 3DS and interest in CCG's/board games. This content may be purchased by users who have registered a Nintendo Account and accepted the respective legal terms.
