It does not help that Mo Ran will fantasize about it every few pages, usually in a little too much detail. A lot of people just lead far more normal lives than the craziness depicted in stories, which doesn't include sleeping around constantly! Anyway fact is throughout the entire first volume which is like 500 pages, Mo Ran doesn't change one bit. However, it’s certainly a very gripping and exciting story, especially if you are a fan of angst and drama as there is plenty of that to spare. I’m aware that part of the humor was lost on the way, all the playing with the words the translator kept having to explain on notes, but there were still plenty of moments that brought a smile to my face only to break it with more pain.

Mo Ran, who took over the world and became the ruling Emperor Taxian-Jun, dies and reincarnates back in time to when he was only 16 years old, and has the chance to do everything over again. I’ve laughed to the point of tears, and cried because of the heartwrenching emotions while reading this (I finished all of the story, reading the remaining parts in Chinese).I’m probably biased because I wanted, needed to see Mo Ran realize he should be adoring Chu Wanning instead-come on, who in their right mind would choose Shi Mei when you could choose CWN? His shizun was really too much like a cat while he himself was a dumb pup who’d only slobber and wag his tail. But he left the worst for his Shizun, Chu Wanning, responsible for the death of the only man Mo Ran’s ever wanted, Shi Mei.

Especially when Shizun starting blaming himself for being the victim, that just left a bad taste in my mouth. It may have been a stronger piece if the author had dialed down the size of things and maybe focused a little more just on the main two character’s developing relationship.

Yet as Mo Ran shamelessly pursues his own goals in this life he thought lost, he begins to wonder if there might be more to his teacher--and his own feelings--than he ever realized. This wiki is a community created by fans to share the knowledge and help others learn about the novel.
