A all-new standalone enemies-to-lovers, serial killers and hidden identities, where the Villain always gets the girl even if she sets his house on fire. L. Smith is a dark romance standalone with themes that might be triggering for some readers so do proceed with caution.

It is well written and well worth a look if you like that batpoo crazy lust that these two characters experience falling into each other. Both Zuko and Alaska have a very messed up relationship, and Zuko has some strong kinks which include knife play. Alaska is used to being on her own and taking care of herself but when Zuko enters her life in more ways than just one she's not sure how to navigate the secrets she's keeping. We met the Hunter brothers in a Villain’s Lies, although they weren’t in the story for long they made quite an impact.

This is about a strong independent FMC who works in a bar and has a secret identity as a phone spicy worker. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Alaska is such a strong woman, when she says something she means it and follows up with any threat too. I don’t want to spoil anything, but there’s a scene that will literally shock you and make you fan yourself at the same time. but all those moments when he tended to her wounds, cooked, and gave off LITERAL “touch her and die” vibes? The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. I’m having a really hard time getting into this book because the female narrators voice sounds complexly AI generated with a slight Midwestern mom lilt to it. He was a twisted man with twisted kinks but I liked that he said he wouldn’t do anything kinky if that’s what she wanted!

Some of the others laugh, agreeing with him, before he smiles at me and says, "Cover your ears, Trouble. They hunt and kill without remorse wiping out competition of their clients in exchange for very good coin. One of those men is Zuko and after he hears her talk, he immediately asks what her name is and of course she says her real name. Zuko is the dark villain most would run scared shitless away from, while Alaska is the independent sassy spit-fire and his perfect match.

It’s dark it’s gritty and it’s super hot Zuko and Alaska are perfect for each other their chemistry is scorching and the touch her and die vibes is delicious! But I live on the edge, and he seems like a man it would be fun to annoy, and despite all the warnings I have received I just can’t help myself with him.

I did like the story overall, but I would have liked the characters fleshed out a little more, especially Zuko and his brothers. Honestly, I think she’s perfect for Zuko, and likewise he is for her, she centres him and doesn’t take any nonsense. The way he would take care of Alaska, worried and cared for her was cute 🫂 I loved his twin brothers Kyson and Kenzo moments!Zuko, the eldest Hunter brother, is the male lead in this story and he is one dark, twisted guy but I quite like him. I went into this book not knowing what I was getting myself into and I freaking loved every moment of it. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the characters Alaska and Zuko and I'm definitely intrigued by Zuko's brothers Kyson and Kenzo so that I'll come back to the Hunter brothers, wanting more of this world. I love their banter and their back and forth so much, it is refreshing and so funny, plus the dynamics between the brothers is so good and funny. Zuko is one of 3 brothers who are Hunters/contract killers who are definitely more than morally grey.
